How to Prepare Your HVAC System Before You Leave for Vacation
Whether you’re planning to spend a few weeks touring out of the country or just spending the weekend at the beach, summer vacations are undoubtedly fun. But with all that has to be done in preparing for the trip, most people tend to forget about their Frederick Colorado HVAC system.

A little preparation before you leave can help you enjoy a worry-free vacation and help you save money and energy in the process.

Here are some things you can do to prepare your Frederick HVAC system before you leave for your family vacation.

Schedule a tune up

You’ll want to schedule a tune up to get the system thoroughly checked, cleaned and lubricated before you leave. This is to ensure that your HVAC equipment runs at peak performance. You don’t want to run the risk of suffering in the heat and dealing with an air conditioning problem once you get back.

Consider surge protection

Frederick power surges are a silent killer for your HVAC equipment and home appliances. If there is a power surge while you are away, the electrical components of your appliances can be destroyed or damaged.

Your heating and cooling system represents a major investment, so you want to make sure it lasts for as long as possible. Make sure your HVAC system is protected with a surge protector

Turn up the thermostat

The summer heat can have a tremendous effect on wood flooring, cabinets and doors. Hardwood floors may buckle and expand when the house gets too hot. Doors, on the other hand, may not close properly. Because of that, we advise that you leave the air conditioner running during your vacation.

While you’re gone, you can set the temperature at 85 degrees and get it down to 72 degrees the day before you get back. Of course, this is only possible if you have a programmable thermostat. Otherwise, just set and hold the temperature at 85 degrees.
